Support our Programs

PROJECTS FOR POSSIBLE FUNDING/FUND RAISING - as of July 2011

Project Areas:
Birbhum and East Midnapore districts of West Bengal and Seraikella and Ranchi districts of Jharkhand. 
 
Also will be considered:
Special areas on request based on calamity, riots, social disturbances, abject poverty in states of West Bengal and Jharkhand of India. 
 
PROJECTS FOR CONSIDERATION FOR SUPPORT:

1) Cycle Van: 



a) Donation of a cycle van enables a family to start earning from the same day and come out of poverty.
(It is expected from the 2nd year all drivers will be wealthy enough to continue the insurance policies for the cycle vans as the policies will appear lucrative to them after getting introduced to such opportunities for the first time in their lives.)
 
2) Homes:

You can donate tiles to each family for building their own house. The walls made out of brick/clay/building material as per locality requirement, should be made with their participation.
 
3) Waterproof Roofs:

(Waterproof roof for the landless families displaced due to land acquisition or flood or any other disturbances) with transportation
 
4) Public Toilet: 


 
Villages/urban slums in the designated areas where more than 50 families of at least 250 people have no access to sanitation/toilets and where women and children avail the pond shores for their daily necessities will be provided with the public toilets. While the land would be a contribution from the local people, donors would be necessary for the construction of the Public Toilets.
 
5) Agricultural Tools For Farmers

Agricultural tools (Heavy weight Iron AXE with wooden handle, basket for gathering the farrowed materials) with transportation
 
6) Micro-finance to Self Help Groups 


 
a) Handicraft-based Self Help Groups with Textile-based products (Embroidery, Vegetable coloring and golden work/zardozi work), Non timber Forest Products (Cane and Bamboo, Jute, Shola Pith etc), Woodcraft, Metal Ware etc.
b) Cultivation of local cash crop and Agro-based activities (Jute, Betel Leaf, Fishery, goatery, dairy farming, Chicken farming, pig farming etc)/decorative crop(flower, shola, Medicinal plants etc.)/food crop (Rice, potato, vegetables, pulses, cereals etc.).
c) Food processing Products: Pickle, processed chicken, meat, fish, vegetables, food for consumption, Jam, Jelly etc.
 
Donation for the creation of a revolving fund would help in the micro economic activity of Self Help groups each of which has 10-15 members from the locality covering a population 150 people.

Additionally donations for Self Help Groups can be used for the following activities to increase the efficiency of the group which is as follows:

1) Skill upgradation

2) Functional language and literacy programs with Accounts and Record Keeping

3) Packaging and Marketing

4) Entrepreneurship training

5) Send them to participate in Exhibitions and other opportunities for selling

6) Micro-Credit for Self Help Groups
The Institute has access to more than 10000 SHGs in the 2 states so you can go ahead with any number of benefactors for this 5 and 6 points.

7)  Sewing machines for livelihood
The institute can identify rural families involved in commercial tailoring and provide them with sewing machines to ensure in-house tailoring of items for sale and livelihood.

8) Educational kit
School bags, exercise books, pencil box set, Geometry box, box of color pencils meritorious secondary level students from poor families whose earning does not exceed Rs1200 a month would be given these kits.

9) Bicycle to secondary girl students from poor families
Girl students from secondary classes coming from poor families with earning less than Rs1200 per month would be given the bicycle to make her educational trip free and pleasant. This would be an immense incentive for the girl child to attend school and do well.

10) Solar lanterns for students living without access electricity
There are several villages and urban slums in the adopted areas where there is no electricity. Hence a gift of light would help students study better. Students from such disadvantaged homes would be identified and provided these lanterns which are eco-friendly, not much recurring expenses.

11) Students nutrition program

Students from abject poverty stricken homes would get free of cost one egg and one liter milk per day for a minimum of 3 years period to a maximum of finishing of his/her education/till the time it is necessary for the economic situation of the family.
